5 Reasons Why Introverts Are Great Comedians

You might not think it, but introverts can be frickin’ funny. You don’t have to be a loud, brash extrovert to make it in comedy. Here are five reasons why introverts are great comedians.

  1. They Don’t Like You

That’s what makes us introverts. We don’t like to socialize and talk to people in general, which means that we notice every little thing about you and catalog it for future use. Don’t take it too literally, we actually do like you, we just don’t like talking to you. This mentality tends to make people laugh, which eases our anxiety and allows us to open the flood gates.

  1. They Listen To Everything

Since you are so engaged in talking all the time, it means that we have no other choice but to listen. This, in turn, gives us ammunition with which to pepper you with later, you know, once we get our courage up. Most introverts are great listeners, which just gives them more info to work with. The next time you are shooting off at the mouth, make sure the shy guy isn’t in the room.

  1. People Think Being An Introvert Is Funny

Much to the chagrin of myself and my fellow introverts, many people think that just being quiet or shy is funny. It’s probably because everything in this world is focused more on the extrovert, and we are left out in the cold. We use this to our advantage when we talk about things like not wanting to talk about things. We would instead wipe our behinds with a cheese grater than being drawn into a conversation with someone, and for some reason, that makes people laugh. So if I can get some comedy gold by poking fun at myself, then so be it.

  1. Introverts Are Headcases

Now I don’t mean crazy here. Being that we are so quiet, we process everything in our heads, and when we talk, it is with more purpose because we have selected it carefully. Much different from saying every little thing that just comes to your mind (yes, I mean you, extroverts).  A calculated assault is much more useful than shooting from the hip.

  1. Comedy Is An Outlet

Since we spend most of our time quiet and non-participative, being funny is an outlet for our feelings. We get to say all the things that are going on in our heads with a joke and don’t have to take as much of a risk when speaking. If we can make people laugh when we decide to open our mouths, it gives us more of a boost to let it all out.

If you fancy yourself an introvert and think that you can’t be funny or become a comedian, think again. Introverts are more suited to it than most. They just need to get their nerve up to show everyone.
